The All People for Environmental Development and Peace Association in Assiut Governorate, Egypt, expresses its strong desire to engage in land restoration projects, stemming from its societal and religious role in protecting land the association is involved in several activities related to agricultural land conservation, including: Supervising farmers and raising their awarenes of the dangers of chemical pesticides and promoting safe alternatives for soil protection. Contributing to reducing desertification by educating agricultural communities about the importance of vegetation cover and sustainable agricultural practices. Preventing construction on agricultural land through active participation in the governorate's permanent land protection committee, and submitting practical proposals and periodic reports to support decision-makers. Organizing educational and awarenes-raising seminars to raise public awarenes of the importance of land protection and ways to restore it. The association also seeks to addres the issue of women's deprivation of their right to agricultural inheritance, which is a form of indirect land encroachment. The association adopts community initiatives that highlight the clear religious stance in support of women's right to inheritance and oppose customs that exclude them, contributing to the return of lands to their rightful owners. The organization plan to launch a comprehensive community initiative to restore degraded lands, including awarenes campaigns, training courses for farmers, and partnerships with official and religious bodies to implement reclamation plans based on a sustainable environmental and ethical approach. The organization believe that land restoration is not only about protecting the environment, but also about establishing the values of justice and dignity, which are the core of their mission.

The organization works in three rural districts Kom Ombo, Daraw, and Aswan Center supporting over 400 women to manage home gardens and a 5-feddan plot using regenerative agriculture The organization focus on improving soil health, increasing local food production, and reducing harmful practices Aga Khan Development Network's role includes providing technical support and training to help women apply composting, crop rotation, and water-saving techniques In the future, the organization aim to expand this work to other marginalized rural areas in Aswan such as Abu Simbel, Edfu, and Nasr El Nuba where land restoration can also bring social and economic empowerment. For us, caring for the land is deeply connected to dignity, justice, and faith-driven action Right now, Im involved in land restoration through the Tamkeen Seeds for the Future project run by Om Habibeh Foundation in Aswan, Upper Egypt. The organization works with over 400 women who manage small home gardens, and the organization also support a larger 5-feddan plot managed by a womens group Aga Khan Development Network's role is to help them apply regenerative farming methods like composting, crop rotation, and water-efficient irrigation to improve soil health and grow food in a more sustainable way The project isnt just about farming; its about restoring the land while empowering women and building stronger communities Were also looking to expand similar work to other governorates like Beni Suef and Minya through new partnerships. For me, this work is deeply connected to values of care, justice, and giving back to the land.

The proposed activities will rely on environmentally friendly resources such as organic compost and sustainable farming practices, in close collaboration with local farmers. Additionally, the foundation intends to submit future proposals for pilot projects that involve planting native drought-resistant species, rehabilitating soil, and creating green belts to protect villages from sandstorms and land erosion. These projects will be carried out in partnership with governmental bodies, youth-led initiatives, and development partners at both the local and international levels. Colin Foundation for Development firmly believes that land protection and restoration are integral to its mission of promoting sustainability, achieving environmental justice, and enhancing the quality of life for marginalized rural communities in Egypt. Lastly, bureaucratic processes and fragmented coordination among stakeholders often delay project implementation and reduce efficiency. Despite these obstacles, the foundation remains committed to building partnerships and mobilizing resources to promote sustainable land use in its areas of operation.
