The result of the study also revealed some perceived benefits of these practices which include; enhanced pest control (73%), improved soil fertility (68%), improved crop yield (67%) and reduction of soil erosion (58%). It was concluded that recognizing these benefits of agricultural biodiversity practices through their constant use will promote environmental balance and resilience.

Region24 has begun sensitizing their Congregations on Environmental stewardship and land restoration. The organization is actively planning to initiate Community-Based Restoration activities in mining-impacted Areas within Kogi state, particularly in Eika-Adagu, Eika-Turu, Otite and Abobo communities, where RCCG Parishes are present and where the environmental impacts of mining and deforestation are evident. Proposed activities include Trees planting, Soil stabilization, awarenes campaigns and encouraging Sustainable Land use practices that can restore Ecological balance and improve local livelihoods. Their long. Term vision is to expand these efforts acros RCCG Province 2, Region 24 and beyond in promoting Environmental responsibility NGOs and Mining companies to develop inclusive, community-centered Land restoration models that support both Ecological recovery and Social-economic well-being. The physical degradation from mining activities requires long-term rehabilitation strategies, yet aligning these efforts with local stakeholders needs. Particularly communities and faith groups-is somehow complex. Besides, building capacity within local communities to take ownership of restored lands is an ongoing concern. The organization aim to integrate Ecological Restoration with Social-economic development but practical collaboration models with Faith communities and other Stakeholders are still emerging and cumbersome.

In Abuja where i live, Green Mobilisation Initiative's NGO have collaborated with FCT Secondary Education Board and secured an approval to plant trees in 77 secondary schools.The organization also brought into the collaboration the Park and Recreation Department of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The collaboration have delivered more than 2000 trees seedling that have been plant so far in 26 Secondary Schools. More schools are waiting for similar tree planting exercise to be carried out in their schools. In 2017, their NGO-Green Mobilisation Initiative secured the approval of ten thousand trees seedlings from Ogun State Ministry of Forestry based on a proposal the organization submitted for the "3KM RUN for Trees". At the end the organization planted 2495 trees in 8 schools. 2 years ago, the organization acquired 3 hectares for regenerative purpose which the organization has developed a concept note for. Fencing to prevent destrustion by cattels and other animals. The stream by the side dries off during dry season, soil management etc.

Rivers State University (RSU) has been actively engaged with the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) in Ogoniland through several key initiatives in land and environmental restoration. This involves their lecturers being at the forefront of the research teams from the inception of the work to its current state. Their students are not left out in their research work. There is a strong collaboration as some lecturers are working there on sabbatical leave. Furthermore, their undergraduate students work during their Six Month Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme(SIWES). Some other engagements are: Participation in Sustainable Mangrove Management Workshop in June 2025, HYPREP hosted a validation workshop on their Rapid Assessment of Policy Gaps for Sustainable Mangrove Management, working alongside RSU researchers, CSOs, and local communities in Ogoniland. The workshop focused on mangrove restoration policy and identified sustainable frameworks for policy and action. Collaboration in Mangrove Restoration Effort RSU experts joined HYPREPs mangrove restoration program. As of mid-2025, HYPREP reported that: 93% of mangrove restoration acros Ogoniland had been completed, Shoreline cleanup was 53% done. The participation and collaboration of RSU and delivery have been commended, the quality of these works highlighted during stakeholder engagements. Technical Planning Committee for Centre of Excellence (CEER). HYPREP established a 13 member Technical Planning Committee to develop the Centre of Excellence for Environmental Restoration (CEER), aiming for cutting-edge research and ecological remediation. RSUs Prof. Fakae, former Vice Chancellor, was among the members contributing strategic leadership to guide CEERs establishment. In essence, Rivers State University is a key partner in HYPREPs environmental restoration efforts, contributing to policy design, technical guidance, and community engagement to revitalize land and ecosystems in Ogoniland. Finalization & Handover of sustainable mangrove restoration of CEER, aiming for operational status by late. Some of these are: urban encroachment and pressure. This is a result of urban growth and development by the private sector. There were disputes by the host community and conflicts of ownership of the land at various points, with unending court cases. The 1975 Master Plan of the state was old and not relevant, and it was only in 2009 that a new Master Plan was initiated. The university has four additional satellite campuses. These satellite campuses are in rural communities, such that security and land protection are lacking. The Physical Planning Authority has not fully taken control of the area. Additionally, the university had its master plan, which was not fully implemented because of political interests.

While Igbinedion University is primarily an academic institution, the organization is exploring opportunities to use portions of their campus land in Okada, Edo State, for practical environmental initiatives. These include tree planting, student-led awarenes campaigns, and discussions on establishing demonstration plots for sustainable agriculture. Though these efforts are at an early stage, Igbinedion University, Okada's goal is to initiate a faith-informed land restoration project that integrates academic research, community development, and spiritual values. Igbinedion University, Okada is particularly interested in combining traditional knowledge with scientific practices in their local context.

USHAF Nigeria, the faith-based organization The organization foundeds, is currently stewarding 4 acres of land in Osun State for agricultural use, with plans to transition it into a model site for sustainable farming and ecosystem restoration. The organization also oversee farmlands of congregation members who voluntarily place their land under their care for guidance and ethical alignment. In partnership with the Osun State Ministry of Environment, the organization conduct monthly workshops for these farmers on green farming techniques, soil restoration, and sustainable practices aligned with Islamic environmental teachings. The organization is currently expanding their programming to include Islamic animal rights education in rural hunter communities and initiating faith-based mediation to reduce clashes between farmers and nomadic cattle herders by promoting eco-conscious livestock housing and land use practices. Their goal is to establish faith-rooted, community-driven models of land restoration that combine ecological best practices with spiritual values, particularly in under-resourced rural areas of Southwest Nigeria. The organization currently run a food secure mission project where the organization teach local farmers including a missionaries and staff persons regenerative agriculture Nasarawa and Benue,the organization intend going to other northern nigeria state and southern too. Over time some of the participant do not understand the benefit of their project, they are used to the old way of doing things, hence it requires more effort from us to train them till they understand and implement.

EYN Church Nigeria has shown increasing interest in land restoration, particularly in response to the environmental and humanitarian impacts of conflict in Northeast Nigeria. While the organization is not yet implementing large-scale restoration projects, some congregations in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States have started small community-led tree planting initiatives and awarenes campaigns on the importance of sustainable farming. These are mainly focused around church compounds, schools, and mission centers. Their church leadership is currently exploring ways to integrate environmental stewardship into church teachings, with the goal of mobilizing their large rural membership toward land restoration. The organization is also seeking partnerships to develop practical programs in areas such as Gwoza, Chibok, and Michikaregions heavily affected by land degradation and displacement. The organization is strongly interested in starting more organized and faith-based restoration efforts, including reforestation, soil recovery, and climate education rooted in biblical teachings. Participation in this masterclas will help us design sustainable interventions, raise awarenes among their congregations, and equip their faith leaders with tools to guide community action. Many rural congregations rely heavily on traditional farming methods that contribute to soil degradation. Despite the churchs strong community presence, there is a need for structured training and faith-based advocacy to align spiritual teachings with practical environmental action.

Wadi Ben-Hirki Foundation (WBHF) has led several land restoration-focused initiatives grounded in faith, justice, and sustainability, particularly acros Northern Nigeria, where climate vulnerability intersects with violent extremism, displacement, and extreme poverty. While their organisation was founded to advocate for marginalized groups, especially women, children, and youth, the organization has intentionally integrated land stewardship into their programming, recognising the sacred link between environmental degradation and human suffering. Through their WINGS Climate Resilience Project, the organization launched the Farm in Your Yard campaign in conflict-affected communities acros the Federal Capital Territory, Adamawa, Borno, and Kaduna States. This initiative transforms unused and/or degraded spaces around IDP camps, homes, schools, and places of worship into micro-farms using regenerative agriculture and climate-smart techniques. It not only improves food security but also reinforces spiritual values of care, gratitude, and intergenerational responsibility for the land. In addition, under their Love in the Midst of War (LitMoW) initiative, the organization mobilise youth, men, and women in IDP camps to learn eco-friendly farming, waste reduction, and soil restoration methods. The Planet Protectors project, run in collaboration with a social enterprise founded by me, Range The Brand, further promotes reforestation, recycling, and clean-up campaigns in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.
