Their organization is currently developing a youth-led land restoration and eco-tourism initiative in Beni Hassan, Monastir (Tunisia), on the land co-owned by uncle Salem, a respected imam who plays an active role in environmental education. The imam, inspired by Islamic teachings on stewardship and the sacred duty to protect the Earth, is already mentoring young people on the spiritual and practical dimensions of caring for the land. This initiative seeks to restore the land through agroecology, native species planting, and sustainable land use while also turning it into a space for eco-tourism and spiritual reflection. The organization envision guided walks, youth workshops, and community-based activities that not only protect the environment but also highlight the link between faith, heritage, and sustainable development. For us, land restoration is not just technical it is deeply spiritual. In Islam, caring for the Earth is an act of worship. Their goal is to revive this consciousnes among youth, many of whom feel disconnected from both land and faith. By grounding this initiative in Islamic values and led by a faith figure already engaged with youth, the organization aim to create a meaningful and scalable model that uplifts both nature and community. Additionally, the site is somewhat remote and lacks proper infrastructure, including accessibility features for people with disabilities.
