Christianity20,000+ ha, in cooperation with indigenous communities hectares
The organization is currently working on land restoration and biodiversity conservation initiatives in two parts of Peru: the Pacific Dry Forest along the semi-desertic coast in Northern Peru (focus Pacasmayo Province) and the Amazon Rainforest (Cusco Province). In Pacasmayo the organization works with peasant communities such as Santonte, Caoncillo and Jatanca. Forest regrowth in this ecosystem is very slow and the work is mostly focused on improving forest surveillance and reducing pressure on the ecosystem by finding alternatives for firewood usage. In the Amazon Basin the organization works with the Indigenous Community of Monte Carmelo on restoration of degraded parts of their forest, capacity building, improvement of livelihoods and preservation of Traditional Ecological Knowledge. In both cases the main threats for the natural ecosystem are agricultural expansion and illegal logging, which in some cases can attract violence.
