With support from TerraFund for AFR100, the organization combine ecological restoration with improved community livelihoods. The organization manage four nursery sites producing native and agroforestry species such as Prunus africana, Maesopsis eminii, and Grevillea robusta, selected for their environmental and socio-economic value. The seedlings are planted in degraded areas of Kibira National Parkspecifically in the sectors of Musigati, Rwegura, and Mabayias well as in surrounding community lands in the communes of Bukinanyana, Mabayi, Mpanda, and Musigati. These efforts aim to restore forest cover, reduce erosion, and enhance biodiversity. To support local livelihoods, the organization also promote edible mushroom cultivation with plans to expand these efforts to other regions of Burundi. Climate variability and technical capacity gaps in nursery management and restoration techniques further complicate implementation.

Its area of intervention currently covers the regions of Bururi, Rutana, Makamba, Gitega and Bujumbura. Support is concentrated in priority sub-watersheds, which have been identified for greater visibility and rapid impact. These watersheds are Mugere, Mutsindozi, Nyakazu, Nyengwe, Rukuzira I, Nyakijanda I, Musanzaza, Siguvyaye I, Rukuzira II, Siguvyaye II, Gishanga and Nyakijanda II.

    The Kibira forest, of which area is 40,000 hectares, situated in the southern Burundi, Bururi Province, was devastated during the war (1993-2005) when the majority of Burundi citizens decided to fight the government that was said to be discriminating and killing that majority due to ethnic reasons( Hutu -Tutsi). The Kibira forest, which used to be an attractive and fascinating place for tourists worldwide, due to its richnes in unique wildlife species, became a shelter for rebels, a field for war; After the war; some studies b Education Watch Burundi( EWB) initiated in 2022, a project called Greenlife Restoration motivated by the concern of contributing in restoring some of the wildlife habitat destroyed by the civil war. EWB approached the Burundi government for a partnership on the project, which was fortunately successful. The government decided to give their Organisation a 4.6hectare forest for restoration. The organization mobilised church leaders and members in the southern Burundi for their involvement. Their approach was based Genesis 2:15 in the Bible , when God recommended humans to care for the Land. 67 church leaders and 2800 church members after sessions of mobilisation in 2022, became strong environment stewards and are volunteers in the project. Besides, 80% of activities are funded by Churches. In the government evaluation in June 2024, Education Watch Burundi (EWB) w000 trees including 9000 rare species were planted from since January. Identifying species of trees that used to be in that land before the war devastated it;. Identifying species of insects, flogs and birds before the war;. Working closely with the government for better laws and policies a responsible wildlife stewardship.

Restoration of ecosystemes of Mugina, Cibitoke, Burundi: supported by Terrafund, -Project to Support the Development of Agricultural Value Chains and Entrepreneurship in Burundi This project aims to improve agricultural productivity, promote rural entrepreneurship, and strengthen value chains to increase the incomes of small-scale producers in Burundi. Project of multiplication and distribution of trees fruits, mushrooms, Chili and others vegetables in their cooperatives. Key challenges include key challenges include -high population pressure: the rapid population growth puts intense pressure on arable land, leading to fragmentation, overuse, and degradation of land resources -limited acces to resources and technology: the organization need to shape their team in different ways for satisfying their cooperatives in their need for increasing and saving harvest -limited financial support: the organization need to expand their activities and touche many famers and change many life by protecting their environment by diversifying activities for limit the effects of climate change.

    In Burundi's where over 90% of the population depends on agriculture, environmental degradation is a major concern. In response and as part of their commitment to the Anglican Communions 5th mark of mission to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, the Diocesan Initiatives for community Development is currently running: A climate resilience programme in Muyange, Rwesero and Gasunu, three different Districts of Gitega Province, Burundi. This programme aims at: educating communities on human responsibility in creation care (27,539 people were sensitized in 2024); encouraging reforestation (developing community tree nurseries, planting trees including fruit trees and native species_283,119 trees were planted in. And protecting river banks (5 Kilometers protected). A Water, Hygiene and Sanitation project in Nyagisenyi, Gitega, Burundi: this project aims at protecting and improving natural sources hence caring for creation and availing clean water for most vulnerable community members. Since 2023, 156 natural springs have been protected and improved. Moreover, this project targets improved acces to sanitation for vulnerable populations. A Food Security Project in Kabanga, Ruyigi, Burundi: this project promotes sustainable agriculture through improved farming techniques, soil restoration and community training. Bakure Neza: Within this project that hDICD encourages the use of locally-made wooden toys from recycled wood instead of plastic-made and imported. Additionally, there is an initiative by a sister-CSO to elaborate green coal within vulnerable communities made from waste and preventing deforestation. The organization believe that building global networks, learning from others and building capacity from this mastercall is key to overcoming these obstacles.

    The organization woulds like to show you that ASSOCIATION POUR LE DEVELOPPEMENT ET L'INTEGRATION DES POPULATIONS A MOYENS LIMITES (Burundi Indigenous Organization) , ADRSEPAL's commitment to land restoration have come out after seeing ASSOCIATION POUR LE DEVELOPPEMENT ET L'INTEGRATION DES POPULATIONS A MOYENS LIMITES (Burundi Indigenous Organization) , ADRSEPAL's indigenous community using trees for making pots that being sold in the market for getting food because they made an exchange of food with the pots in the same time. This means to active the climate change issues caused by every time to cutting trees without other program of replanting soils with the trees. Therefore , ASSOCIATION POUR LE DEVELOPPEMENT ET L'INTEGRATION DES POPULATIONS A MOYENS LIMITES (Burundi Indigenous Organization) , ADRSEPAL's program is to replant the soil in according with the restoration standards in partnership with the hill leaders of the sector of the environment. ASSOCIATION POUR LE DEVELOPPEMENT ET L'INTEGRATION DES POPULATIONS A MOYENS LIMITES (Burundi Indigenous Organization) , ADRSEPAL's program is to sensitize other area of the north of Burundi commonly called Kirundo province in partnership with the local leaders and other community based organizations. The ADRSEPAL the local administration support the ADRSEPAL in order to manage and plan well how the land belonging to the indigenous community could well be used.

    The organization has planted fruit trees, forest trees, plants, flower trees and making kitchen gardens for vegetables in the lands formerly used by the Danish Baptist missions which are located in Burundi, Kayanza-Musema, Rubura, Bwar in the northern, Rutana Eastern, Mataba-Muyebe, Bubanza, Musigati, Kibogoye, Muramvya Central, Ngozi, Kirundo, Muyinga north eastern, Cibitoke. The organization mobilise the church members and communities around churches to protect environment and planting fruit trees near their homes. Sometimes the organization invite local authorities to see what the organization is doing in order to encourage them to mobilise the communities under their responsibilities to protect environment by planting trees on their lands or near the houses. Also, the organization is interested to start such work to more than 300 locations where are planted small church lands, This means they dont have the capacities to increase soil fertility, improve water infiltration, and reduce soil degradation. Reason why their land restoration refers to the proces of halting degradation or rehabilitating degraded land. Having financial means, It will aim to enhance biodiversity, restore ecosystem services, and mitigate climate change impact in different regions of Burundi and neighbour countries, families will have enough food will be available in the market for affordable price.
